Science Day

21st October 2024H Trinity

It was great to see so many pupils dressed up as scientists this Science Day!  Pupils enjoyed a fun-filled day learning from the experts from The Crick Institute.  Each class also learnt about a different famous scientist, so make sure you ask them all about them.

Lighthouse London – Light Party

21st October 2024H Trinity

Lighthouse London will be running their annual Light Party on 31st of October.  This is a fun event that offers an alternative to Halloween that has been popular with pupils in the past.  Please contact Lighthouse London directly if you would like your child to participate and remember, this is not a Halloween party, so no expensive, scary costumes or sweets are required!

Learning with Lighthouse London

18th October 2024H Trinity

Our lovely children’s pastor, Jemima, came in to visit Year 6 on Thursday to talk about the sacraments with a particular focus on confirmation.  She shared her experiences of her own baptism and why it is important for Christians to affirm their faith and how this may impact their life.

School visits like this are just one of the ways that our partnership with Lighthouse London enriches the life of the school.

If you have been baptised, or your family have a similar ritual, why not discuss it with your child this weekend.

Pupil voice at Holy Trinity

1st October 2024H Trinity

The new House Captains had their first meeting with me today.  Our agenda included discussing their role in our work towards Artsmark and creating a more representative arts curriculum.  I am really looking forward to working with them over the next few months.

House Captain is a role that pupils can aspire to and their voices are essential to our school development plans.  In addition to House Captains, each class will have 2 Class Representatives this year, so that we can capture the views of pupils more widely and on a greater variety of topics.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

30th September 2024H Trinity

Thank you to the parents who attended the Macmillan coffee morning on Friday.  We hope you enjoyed getting to know each other.  All proceeds will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Year 6 chose Macmillan as their charity for the year, as they recognise that cancer can impact on anyone.  In the Spring term they will be walking a pilgrimage route to raise more funds.  This is part of our work on building mindful, active citizens.

Harvest Service

16th September 2024H Trinity

We will be holding our annual Harvest Service at Lighthouse London on Wednesday 25th September.  If you would like to donate food, please hand it in to either your child’s class teacher or the office.  Non-perishable items, such as pasta & rice are great, as they are lighter for pupils to carry and easy to store.  All food donations will be taken to the Streets Food Project at the O2 Centre where it will be distributed to local families in need.

Parents are welcome to attend the service.

Statutory Assessment Dates 2024-25

12th September 2024H Trinity

Dear parents/carers,

Some of you have been asking about the types of assessments that schools have to administer in the different year groups.  Please find below details of the statutory assessments for this academic year.  It is imperative that pupils are in school for statutory assessments, so please make a note of any dates that apply to your child.

Academic year 2024 to 2025

Reception baseline assessment

Schools must complete the reception baseline assessment for each child in the first 6 weeks after they enter reception. The baseline assessment is age appropriate and pupils do not even notice that it is an assessment.

Early years foundation stage profile assessment (Reception)

Schools must complete the early years foundation stage profile assessment between between April and June of the academic year in which children turn 5, which is usually the reception year.  Pupils do not complete actual tests or assessments – teachers will assess without the pupils noticing!

Optional key stage 1 tests – taken by Year 2 pupils

It is recommended that the optional key stage 1 tests are administered during May 2025.

Key stage 2 tests – taken by Year 6 pupils

The statutory key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 12 May to Thursday 15 May 2025.

Multiplication tables check – Taken by Year 4 pupils

Schools must administer the multiplication tables check within the 2-week period from Monday 2 June 2025.

Phonics screening check – Year 1 pupils

(Year 2 pupils repeat the screening if they did not meet the expected standard in Year 1.)

Schools must administer the phonics screening check within the 1-week period from Monday 9 June 2025.
