Learning to Live Well Together – World Environment Day

8th June 2023H Trinity

Part of learning to live well together is respecting the natural world and understanding the world-wide impact of our rubbish.  A group of pupils from Years 3, 4 & 5 visited the O2 Centre today to find out what they are doing to reduce their impact on the environment.  The pupils went ‘behind the scenes’ to explore the various compactors and sorting rooms that are used to aid recycling.

Raising Aspirations – Reinterpreting Monuments Project

8th June 2023H Trinity

Year 5 have been working with not one, but two, professional artists this week, plus a historian!   This is all part of a larger project that is running across Camden to explore how monuments around the borough resonate with different parts of the local community.

Artists Anna Reading and Kat Hudson have put together a really exciting project during which Year 5 will create their own storybooks, inspired by their individual responses to Virginia Woolf’s writing.  Historian, Laura Owen, has been helping the children to understand why Virginia Woolf is still a significant figure in British history.

Reception Fun!

26th May 2023H Trinity

Reception have been enjoying a fun end to the half-term.  They have been observing the life-cycle of butterlies, getting up close and interacting with these beautiful insects.  What a fabulous way to deepen their understanding of the world!

Reception also had a fabulous time at Story World.  I know the parents that went with them enjoyed it too!

With learning experiences like this, I have no doubt our pupils will reach their potential.

Learning to Live Well Together – Visit to the Gudwara

23rd May 2023H Trinity

Year 5 visited a Gudwara to see first-hand how Sikhs use their places of worship last week.  Our RE curriculum covers all the world’s major faiths, so that pupils can learn to live well together.

Raising Aspirations – More Exciting Experiences!

18th May 2023H Trinity

Year 5 & 6 pupils met popular author Georgia Byng.  Georgia talked about her books and what inspires her to write.  The pupils had lots of questions for her.  Thank you to Toska, in Year 6, and her family, who introduced us to Georgia.

It has also been a busy couple of weeks for school trips.  Year 1 travelled to Brixton Mill to find out how flour was made.  They even had a go themselves!

Year 4 went to the British Library to find out how artists create books.  We had wonderful feedback from the British Library staff about the pupils’ behaviour and engagement.  Well done Year 4!

It was also Year 4’s turn to visit our partners at UCS.  UCS have put on a series of science workshops for our KS2 pupils that give them expereince of working in a proper science lab.

Let’s Help Each Other Out – Pre-loved Uniform

12th May 2023H Trinity

Last year the pre-loved items of uniform that were left by Year 6 pupils and donated by other parents were snapped up.  As the cost of living continues to soar, we would like to be able to offer more pre-loved uniform to families in need.

If your child has outgrown their uniform or is leaving at the end of the year, please think about dropping it into school, rather than into the landfill!

Donated items must be:

  • washed – this is really important, as we have no washing facilities in the school!
  • part of the school uniform
  • in wearable condition

I will send a reminder nearer the end of summer term, but just wanted to make you aware that this is a service we can offer, if we all spare a thought for each other.

Healthy Schools Award

10th May 2023H Trinity

Great news!  Holy Trinity has been awarded Healthy Schools Status by both the Mayor of London and Camden Council.  A team of staff have been working towards this award over the last few terms, documenting the high quality education pupils receive in PE, Design & Technology, PHSE & Citizenship, as well as the range of enrichment activities we provide, such as Health & Wellbeing Days.

Thanks go to Mr Pastore, Ms Walker and Ms McQueen, who worked on the application!  We also would not have been able to achieve this award without the catering team from Caterlink, who do such a sterling job providing fresh, healthy lunches.

Time for a Change – 2023-2024

5th May 2023H Trinity

Next year, the end of the school day will return to 3.30pm.  This is to ensure that we are meeting our statutory obligations and supporting the needs of pupils and working parents.

Please note that this does not come into operation until next September.  Term dates for next year are already on the website, so please check them before booking holidays.

The school gates will continue to open at 8.45 in the morning to facilitate a smooth start to lessons.  Pupils should be in their classrooms ready to start lessons at 9.00 am – they should not be arriving at 09.00.

Raising Aspirations – Royal Albert Hall Performance

25th April 2023H Trinity

Year 5 enjoyed an amazing opportunity to perform at The Royal Albert Hall last night, a privilege usually reserved for super stars.  They performed a range of different choral pieces as part of the Camden Schools’ Music Festival.  All the children and parents that I spoke to this morning were delighted with the event.  What a fabulous experience for our pupils!

Thank you to Ms Wilson, Ms Littlewood and Mr Miller for all their hard work in getting the children ready.
