A busy week at Holy Trinity

17th November 2022H Trinity

UK Parliament Week

The pupils have been learning about democracy and how it works in the UK, so they are prepared to be politcally engaged citizens when they are older.

Year 3 Make an Animation about the Life of Picasso

Year 3 went to the CLC to create their animation.  They used their knowledge about the great artist to inspire them.  I’m really looking forward to seeing it!

The HT Garden Gang get Going

Girls from South Hampstead High School Juniors’ Eco-Council met up with our Garden Gang to begin creating our joint wild-life garden. It was lovely to see the pupils making new friends as they learnt.

Thank you to the parents who have so generously donated gardening tools and seeds. They are very much appreciated.

Remembrance Day

11th November 2022H Trinity

The children observed the two minutes silence to mark Remembrance Day today.  We feel it is important that pupils understand what is meant by ‘service’ and that they acknowledge the sacrifice it has taken to ensure that we live in a country where we are free to hold a range of beliefs.  I was really proud of the way they showed their respect, particularly as the silence was during Year 5’s and Year 6’s playtime.  Well done everyone!

Reminder – Friday 25th November is an INSET Day and school will be closed.

Gardening Goodies Needed

7th November 2022H Trinity

We have recently been given joint access to some land that adjoins our school and are hoping to turn it into a wild-life friendly garden in conjunction with pupils from South Hampstead High School.  The is looking a little forlorn at the moment, but we have an enthusiastic group of pupils ready to transform it.  However, we need your help.

If you have any of the following that you are able to donate to the school it would be most welcome:

  • Outdoor plants, seeds or bulbs
  • Flower pots
  • Gardening gloves
  • Garden tools
  • Gardening books or magazines

Similarly, if you have any experience of gardening and growing veg and can spare some time to coach some children, we would love to hear from you.

Holy Trinity – God’s Answer to a Prayer

4th November 2022H Trinity

Helen, from Streets Food Project, came into school to thank the pupils for their Harvest Festival contributions.  She explained how she had prayed to God about not having enough food for all the visitors to the food bank when Holy Trinity pupils appeared with the parcels they had prepared.

Helen was accompanied by some refugees from Ukraine, who help out at the the food bank.  The pupils found out about their experiences of having to flee their homes and what it is like settling in a new country.  The pupils showed great empathy.

Age Restrictions for Social Media Platforms

2nd November 2022H Trinity

I found these posters on a website about the minimum ages for popular social media platforms and thought they would be a useful to parents/carers.  We do know that pupils at school are accessing some of these platforms despite being under age, so please check what your children are using and how they are using it.

If you aren’t sure how to broach the subject with your child, these website have lots of information and advice.

The Light Party

1st November 2022H Trinity

It was lovely to see so many pupils and parents at Lighthouse London yesterday for The Light Party.  The children enjoyed it immensely.

Thank you to Jemima and the team at Lighthouse London for putting on such a splendid event, especially as they did so on a voluntary basis. It was a great success.

A Fabulous End to Science Week

21st October 2022H Trinity

It was great to see so many scientists at Holy Trinity today!  I really enjoyed finding out which scientists had inspired the children’s costumes and what professions they were now thinking about.  Thank you to Ms Bear for putting together a science week that opened the children’s eyes to some inspirational scientists and raised the children’s aspirations that bit higher.
