Our reception pupils have been observing the life cycle of chicks this week. The chicks arrived as eggs and hatched in the classroom, much to the children’s delight. Handling the chicks has been a very special experience for the pupils who described them as ‘beautiful’, ‘soft’ and ‘sweet’.
Year 5 were scientists for the day at The Francis Crick Institute. They experienced the awe and wonder that science can bring to their lives. Just look at their faces!
Scientists from The Crick Institute delivered workshops to classes today on a number of topics. Year 6, for example, explored the ways that light travels. What a way to kick off Science Week!
Thank you to all the parents/carers who came to the Harvest Festival at The Lighthouse yesterday. I know it moved those that did. The thoughtful prayers and poems that were written by the pupils showed that this old tradition still has meaning today. It was also a great opportunity for some pupils to engage in service and support the less fortunate.
A massive thank you for all your donations. These have been taken over to the food bank by pupils, teachers and the church team today. Your generosity has been touching, particularly in these difficult times.
Year 3 visited The National Gallery to see the ‘Picasso Ingres – Face to Face’ exhibition. Year 3’s focus artist this term is Picasso and the exhibition gave the pupils a chance to experience his work first-hand and compare it to the work of another great artist. This will help them to complete Part B of their Arts Award.
The pupils also studied Henri Rousseau’s painting ‘Surprised!’ This is the focus painting for The National Gallery’s ‘Take One Picture’ project this year. Schools are invited to make art works based on the focus painting and submit them to the gallery. After successfully submitting work for exhibition on two previous occasions, we are aiming to make it a hat-trick!
Our friends at The Lighthouse are running a fun event for children aged 0-12 years and their parents on Monday 31st October between 15.30 – 17.00.
Please sign up at www.lighthouselondon.org or contact the church team directly for more details. Jemima will be popping in on Thursday to hand out leaflets, so you can also catch her in the playground.
Year 5 & year 6 pupils took part in the Camden Schools Sports Association cross country event on Hampstead Heath. All the pupils had a great day and we are very proud of them!
Year 4 had a great time at a cookery school run by Waitrose. They learnt how to make healthy meals in a professional kitchen.
Last Thursday, Year 1 went to Kentish Town Farm to learn about animals and their habitats. They had great fun with a wide range of animals big and small!
