Raising Aspirations – Learning from the Professionals

9th March 2023H Trinity

Holy Trinity was blessed to have a fabulous structural engineer come in to tell them about her work.  Katherine has worked on some very impressive projects around the world, including the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona and a rolling bridge in London Docklands, which really blew the children’s minds!  She was great at explaining how she used maths, science and computing in her work, so the children could see how their learning could be used later in life.  What a great role model to learn from on International Women’s Day!  Thank you, Katherine.

Thank you to the parents and pupils who put a lot of effort into their costumes on World Book Day.  The pupils enjoyed a variety of activities designed to inspire a love of books.

Reception go to The National Gallery

8th February 2023H Trinity

Reception class enjoyed their storytelling workshop at The National Gallery today.  They looked at a number of paintings, including Rousseau’s ‘Suprised!’.  This is a painting all the pupils will be familiar with by the end of the year, as it is the focus painting for The National Gallery’s ‘Take One Picture’ project this year.

Safer Internet Day – Talking About It

7th February 2023H Trinity

The internet is great and brings many benefits, but it isn’t perfect and sometimes things go wrong.  Pupils across the school had fun learning how to keep themselves safe online and what to do if they come across something that isn’t right.

This year’s theme has been around having conversations about what children experience online, so please follow up  to day with the parents resources available below.

Safer Internet Day – 7th February 2023

6th February 2023K McCleave

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Tuesday 7th February we will be joining schools and youth

organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2023.

Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and

responsible use of technology, which calls on children and young people,

parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies,

policymakers and more, to help to create a better internet.

Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote

in school/our group/our club, and celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great

opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver

throughout the year.

We would be delighted if you could join us in celebrating the day by

continuing the conversation at home. To help you with this, the UK

Safer Internet Centre have created some free activities and information

for parents and carers which are available at: saferinternet.org.uk/

SID-parents.

Whether you have 5 minutes to start a conversation or hours to spare,

there are top tips, quizzes and films which you can use at home with

your child.

If you have any concerns or questions about keeping your child safe

online, please do get in touch with your child’s class teacher/myself or

Ms McQueen, our Designated Safeguarding Person/Lead.

Kind regards,

Ms Keeley McCleave

Little Ones Lighthouse

3rd February 2023H Trinity

If you want a space to meet other parents/carers of young children then get down to Lighthouse next Thursday, where Jemima and the team will be happy to welcome you.  This could become a weekly service offered to parents in the area if there is enough support for it, so let’s make use of it.

Holy Trinity at St Paul’s Cathedral

27th January 2023H Trinity

Some our KS2 pupils were lucky to go to the London Diocesan Board for Schools’ annual service at St Paul’s Cathedral yesterday.  We were joined by Mr Stephen Rust, our Chair of Governors, who takes a keen interest in the running of the school.  Thank you to the pupils who helped to make our banner, which was processed through the cathedral at the beginning and the end of the service.

Year 1 also visited St Paul’s Cathedral for a ‘Shape Up’ workshop.  They learnt how Christopher Wren used his knowledge of geometry to build the cathedral and decorate it.  I am sure they all slept well that night after climbing all the way up to The Stone Gallery for a magnificent view over London.

Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration Workshop

20th January 2023H Trinity

Yesterday, Reception and Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic illustration workshop that focused on character design .  The workshop was led by a facilitiator from The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration.  Illustrations are often children’s gateway into books and art, so it is great to get them designing their own characters at such an early age.
